The following five days in the Arctic will be spent riding along expansive glaciers and mountainsides. Each night you will camp out in the pristine wilderness with your canine friends to protect you from any polar bears!
East Coast
The best way to explore the Arctic by dogsled! You won't just admire the incredible glaciers and mountain passes from afar, you will ride right over them and make them your campsite later that evening. This safari on the east coast of Svalbard is a five-day, four-night expedition that will take you right into the wilderness of the Arctic.

This three-day dog sledding safari rewards long days out in the snow-covered Arctic with two nights in the warmth of the quaint and cozy Spitsbergen Expedition Lodge in Svalbard. Although no knowledge of dog sledding or winter camping is required, you must be in good physical shape in order to handle long days as well as setting up camp, feeding the dogs, and preparing for the next day

Sample Itinerary
Day 1: PREPARATION
Get picked up by your guide and take part in an informational safety briefing. Each participant will work with their own team of 5-6 dogs who you will get to know and play with before setting out. The goal of the first day is to familiarize yourself with the dogs as well as the equipment you will be working with. First you will go east through Aventdalen and then head north into Eskerdalen and Sassendalen where you will set up camp.
Day 2: JOURNEY THROUGH FULMARDALEN
Eat a hearty breakfast before starting your journey through Fulmardalen, which is dotted with glaciers and snow-covered hills that will be exhilarating to sled over with your four-legged friends! By this point you will be much more comfortable with all of the equipment, and by mid-afternoon your guide will lead you to your campsite.
Day 3-4: JOURNEY ALONG THE EAST COAST
Spend some time along the coast, admiring the natural beauty and local wildlife. There is a very good chance you will catch a sighting of a polar bear or a few ring seals on your trip! Continue on to your last campsite, past the glorious mountains and glaciers that line the way.
Day 5: FAREWELL
You will reach the kennel by the early evening, where you will be welcomed by the excited howls of dogs. Say goodbye to your canine companions and truly appreciate the strength, as well as affection, they displayed throughout your journey.
